NYSE technical trading glitch hits Berkshire Hathaway, others

Trading glitch hits the New York Stock Exchange system driving share prices of some widely held stocks down nearly 100% in a matter of minutes.

The New York Stock Exchange is experiencing a technical glitch impacting a handful of stocks, including Warren Buffett's Berkshire Hathaway and Barrick Gold, sending both shares spiraling nearly 100%.

"NYSE Equities is currently investigating a reported technical issue. Additional information will follow as soon as possible", a NYSE spokesperson told FOX Business mid-morning.

Multiple trading halts, which can occur when there is excess buying or selling, or if there is news anticipated, were listed on the exchange's site.

Berkshire's A class stock was impacted, currently trading in the B class shares appeared normal.

The broader indices, the Dow Jones Industrial Average, S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite were little changed.
