Individual therapy offers these individuals a space to understand discomforting thoughts and feelings by working with experienced therapists in a compassionate environment that is free from judgment. Therapists work with teens and children to help them build confidence and resilience, and heal socially and emotionally.
The demands of modern life have placed a strain on the mental health of young Americans. A report commissioned by Mental Health America states that approximately 2.5 million American youth suffer from severe depression. It was also found that more than 60% of youths with clinical depression receive no form of mental health treatment. Several scientific journals have published papers that showcase the link between poor mental health and the likelihood of developing a substance abuse problem.
Decade2Connect believes that individual treatments should be used to understand both the needs of children and caregivers. After the completion of individual sessions, treatment goals are subsequently established with the family. All therapy interventions are experiential, utilize evidence-based modalities, and are implemented by experienced and licensed clinicians.
Alongside individual sessions, the organization also offers a variety of family mental health services and one-off workshops. Family counseling sessions create a place for families to come together and work on communication, cooperation, and conflict resolution. Individual sessions can be conducted either in person or virtually. Although all patients are assessed on a case-by-case basis, the anticipated program length is generally between 9 and 12 weeks.
