After decades of customer service and other 9-to-5 jobs in Corporate America, Deborah Norr has made her side hustle her full-time career. As a real estate investor and consultant, she helps clients who might not be sure they can even buy a first home and then goes further to show people how investing in real estate might help them reach their financial goals. “When I worked in Corporate America, I always felt like there had to be something more than just working and surviving,” Deb says. “How can I create a living? An actual living, a real living, where you have more than enough to pay your expenses and then there’s enough to put away for rainy days. And there’s enough to go on vacation or help your family or help friends when they need it.”
When she found that real estate could lead her to realize that dream, she became excited about sharing her experience with others. Not just the benefits of real estate, but the new lifestyle she gained by turning her side hustle into her own business. “I put this off for a very long time thinking that I could figure it out on my own,” she says, “so if I had to give one piece of advice, it would be to get a mentor or a coach that has done exactly what it is that you want to do, or at least is in the field that you want to be in. Obviously, a swim coach can’t help you with your running. But that is the one thing that I had put off for many, many, many years. And since I started working with a coach, I see how it was absolutely absurd to think that I could do it myself.”
