On December 4th, the Revolution Realty Team will lace up to support the Martin Richard Foundation in the annual MR8K race around Boston.

DORCHESTER, MA – The Martin Richard Foundation 8K, MR8K, is an annual 8K, 5-mile race around Greater Boston. Beginning and ending at Boston Landing, home of the Warrior Ice Arena and the future New Balance Track & Field Complex, the two-loop course takes runners on a scenic tour of Brighton’s beautiful neighborhoods. The combination of flat roads and rolling hills make for a unique and challenging race experience for runners of all abilities.
As the signature event for the Martin Richard Foundation, the MR8K builds community spirit while raising crucial funds to support the world of the foundation as well as community organizations that advance its values of inclusion, kindness, justice, and peace. The foundation invests in community programs that broaden horizons for young people while encouraging them to celebrate diversity and engage in positive civic action.
It was on April 15th, 2013, when the dreaded acts of the marathon bombing shocked the country and took the life of Martin Richard. As spectators above the horrific scene, this event cut deeply for running enthusiasts and Bostonians of all kinds. It wasn’t just the injuries and senseless loss of life. With police barricading the finish line, the city watched as hundreds of runners who had trained all year were prevented from completing their race right at the very end.
This year the MR8K is on December 4th, with registration beginning at 8:00 AM. The kid’s race will kick off at 9 AM, followed by the 8K start at 10 AM. When the race starts, the Revolution Realty team will be front and center.
Born to a family of runners and triathletes, owner Louis Gordon was a naturally gifted sprinter, but long-distance always posed a challenge. With encouragement, Louis trained for and ran the 2011 Boston Marathon, pushing limits and learning lessons that brought him successes far beyond running.
For co-owner Mike Preston running became a passion almost by accident. As the demands of his career clouded his well being, Mike started exercising for his mental health. He purchased a pair of running sneakers on a whim and instantly fell in love. With his first race being the inaugural MR8K, the combination of competitiveness and the silent camaraderie of thousands of runners sank the hook. Mike now trains to qualify for the Boston Marathon in 2023.
With such a connection to the Boston Marathon and the community involved, the family at Revolution Realty has dedicated themselves to doing their part.
