How the Digital Age will Save the Rhino

Johannesburg, South Africa - Black Rock Rhino, a leading rhino conservancy in South Africa, has ventured into rhino horn non-fungible tokens (NFTs) to fund private conservation.

South Africa - November 3, 2021

The Black Rock Rhino sanctuary, home to over 200 rhinos, has partnered Virtual Nation Builders (VNB), a block chain technology company, to tokenize rhino horns into NFTs for sale as digital assets on NFT marketplaces. All the net proceeds of the sale of the First Rhino horn NFT will be fed back into rhino conservation, ensuring the populations growth.

NFTs are "one-of-a-kind" assets in the digital world that can be bought and sold like any other piece of property. The digital tokens can be thought of as certificates of ownership for virtual or physical assets and the owner enjoys bragging rights over the asset.

The ground-breaking and historic sale of the first rhino horn NFT will be held via a live online auction broadcast as well as in person on the 11TH of November 2021 at an auction at the Radisson Blu Hotel in Cape Town by Momint, South Africa’s NFT auction marketplace. The high-powered event, a first in Africa, will be attended by collectors, business leaders and high net individuals from across the world and proudly forms part of SAtion, who are leading the digital revitalisation strategy of South Africa.

Bids can also be placed prior to and during the auction directly with Virtual Nation Builders and all bids will be kept strictly private and confidential.

Bidders will be able to purchase the First Rhino Horn NFT with both cryptocurrency and fiat currency.

The rhino population in South African national parks has dwindled over the last decade from 18 000 to 2 000 owing to rampant poaching, while private conservancies have seen more than a threefold increase over the same period. The problem with private conservation however is the tremendous costs involved, which has seen many conservationists have to give up their fight for fear of bankruptcy.

The digitisation of Rhino horns is the SOLUTION to conservationists’ financial woes. Go to www.rhinos.one to place a private bid or book a spot at the auction.
