What Happened?

Shares of oil and gas producer APA Corporation (NASDAQ: APA) jumped 3.4% in the morning session after the company provided third-quarter 2026 supplemental financial estimates, detailing elevated realized oil prices, trading gains, and share buybacks.

The producer reported average realized oil prices of $87.50 per barrel in the U.S. and $98.50 per barrel internationally, alongside a $190 million before-tax net gain on oil and gas purchases and sales. That trading gain included an $8 million realized gain from commodity derivatives. Per the disclosure, realized natural gas prices averaged $1.45 per Mcf domestically and $5.00 internationally, while natural gas liquids reached $26.00 per barrel in the U.S. and $155.00 overseas. The company noted that the elevated international liquids realization primarily reflects lower volumes and revenue-recognition timing rather than structural pricing shifts.

Furthermore, the company repurchased 10.5 million shares at an average price of $42.78 during the period. The supplemental disclosures provide investors with greater clarity on quarterly cash generation and capital return efforts ahead of full financial results. That update landed alongside an external tailwind: A Gulf tanker attack slowed traffic through the strait, while hurricane-driven production halts shut in Gulf of Mexico output, the Financial Times noted. The resulting supply squeeze lifted Brent crude above $104 per barrel and West Texas Intermediate to $92, according to CNBC.

The shares were trading at $45.58, up 4% from the previous close.
