Tony Robbins, #1 New York Times best-selling author and life and business strategist, has made a career out of helping people ditch the limiting lies they tell themselves and step into their true power. But his quest for truth doesn’t end with self-development. As an executive producer for the powerful documentary Nine Little Indians, Robbins helps expose a truth that he believes shouldn’t stay hidden for one more day.
The film represents the efforts of Robbins and Leonardo DiCaprio, director Shannon Kring, and many others, including executive producers Jennifer Davisson, Marc Gerke, Sophia Ehrnrooth, Walter Köhler, and Phillip Watson, and producers George DiCaprio, Wolfgang Knöpfler, Maritza Carbajal, Phyllis Young, and Wašté Win Yellowlodge Young. Now, Robbins and the team are announcing the world premiere at Lincoln Center on May 27. Through the eyes of its survivors, the film tells the devastating story of the abuses at St. Paul’s Indian Mission School in South Dakota.
The documentary follows former St. Paul’s students, including the Charbonneau sisters. These nine Native American siblings suffered physical, emotional, and sexual abuse at the boarding school during the 1950s and 1960s and have spent more than a decade fighting for accountability. St. Paul’s is just one boarding school in an abusive system, which lasted from the 17th to 20th centuries in the U.S. and Canada.
Robbins expressed his admiration for survivors who have fought bravely to expose the hurt inflicted for generations.
“Spending time with the Charbonneau sisters and their classmates in South Dakota deeply moved me,” said Robbins. “Their stories outraged me and are a testament to the unbowed courage and resilience of our country’s original inhabitants.”
The world premiere of Nine Little Indians is expected to draw attention from the documentary community, advocates, and audiences interested in Indigenous history and survivor-led narratives. With Robbins publicly supporting the film and a major premiere date now set, the project moves from a decade of development into a new phase focused on public viewing, conversation, and wider distribution opportunities.
Robbins’ involvement reflects a pattern of participation in large-scale media projects that expand access to transformational stories and ideas. While he has long championed business and personal coaching services, and has served as a results coach for four U.S. presidents and public figures, including Serena Williams, Andre Agassi, the Golden State Warriors, and members of Aerosmith and Green Day, his executive producer role emphasizes a different kind of impact: supporting storytelling that documents lived experiences, preserves history, and invites broader accountability. Through his business and self-development events, books (which include eight international bestsellers), online programming, and business and personal coaching, he has empowered more than 100 million people from around the world.
Robbins has also dedicated himself to humanitarian work, which includes his 100 Billion Meals Challenge. The 10-year initiative, which he launched in partnership with David Beasley, Nobel Peace Prize winner and former Executive Director of the World Food Programme, is well on its way to providing 100 billion meals to combat the spike in global hunger.
