Roxbury, MA - While many in healthcare are focused on survival, one Boston nurse is focused on something deeper: identity restoration. On World Health Day, Shnell Swain, RN—nurse, mentor, and globally streamed spoken word artist—kicked off her Reflections of Hope national tour at The Stone House, a domestic violence shelter in Roxbury.
More than a speaking tour, this campaign delivers a clear mission: to rebuild identity, self-worth, and voice through mindset mastery and spiritual renewal—especially for women, survivors, and underserved communities.
At the center is Swain’s signature framework: a neuroscience-based approach that helps individuals retrain how they see themselves and step into a healthier version of self-talk and self-worth.
Attendees at the launch engaged in hands-on exercises from Swain’s newly released book, Master Self-Talk & Transform Self-Perception in 30 Days—including guided mirror work, journaling prompts, and self-talk recalibration strategies.

“This wasn’t just a launch. It was a declaration,” Swain said. “Healing is our birthright. Identity is the foundation of every breakthrough. And in healthcare, we cannot talk about healing without first addressing how people see themselves.”
The response from both staff and participants was immediate.
“They couldn’t stop talking about you when you left,” said Alicia Settles, Chief Program Officer at The Stone House. “They’re really looking forward to receiving the book. I raved about you at my Director’s meeting—this event was special.”
“The event was well-organized and the activities were purposeful,” added Yuri Pimentel, Supervisor of Community & Immigrant Resources. “The attendees were clearly moved—just by the look on their faces.”
In addition to the teaching session, Swain donated over $1,500 worth of books and personal development resources to participants through her mentorship program—ensuring the work didn’t stop at the door.
As a nurse and Executive Director of ECM Inc., Swain is no stranger to trauma-but she’s even more committed to helping survivors rewrite their internal narrative. Not with pity, but with power. Not by reliving the past, but by reclaiming their voice, their worth, and their future. Her message is clear: You are more than a conqueror. See it. Decree it. Be it.
