While trying to fancy their future, being middle school scholars, the authors assess what needs to be changed in the now, what part of their personalities would benefit their pursuit of obtaining their life ambitions, and what steppingstones they would likely take to be the person they want to be. Using their expertise and learning, the authors have strived hard to instill a sense of encouragement, helping youth regain faith and making them realize that hard work pays off and miracles do happen. Additionally, the book features a variety of their current favorites, which range from memories of the class of 180 to their favorite teachers, to celebrities, to music, to social media platforms, to their favorite colors. They choose their preferences in life now because those choices determine how they will behave in the future.
Dr. Daniel Hale Williams School of the Arts Middle School 180 is a special place. As the largest stand-alone middle school in Bronx District 11, we work to foster a safe, welcoming place for children and families. We have courted our classes into small learning communities known as Houses. Our houses are proudly named after James Baldwin, Claudette Colvin, Barack Obama, and Justice Sonia Sotomayor. Each house is named after a Bronxite or New Yorker who embodies our core values of Resilience, Integrity, Scholarship, and Empowerment, or R.I.S.E. The Houses are each affiliated with a university in our great city. As a school of the arts, you walk our hallways, and the sounds of violins and children singing fill the halls. We are blessed to be a unique place where students get to learn in an environment where they live their passion each day.
Encapsulated is a testament to the authors' sterling passion for writing and artistically expressing their thoughts through creative writing. Now on our second book, the 8th-Grade Ready to Publish students deserve a round of applause for their unceasing display of wit and writing prowess.
