Addition to in-house operating team brings operating, finance, and integration expertise to the GenNx360 portfolio

GenNx360 Capital Partners (“GenNx360”), a New York City-based private equity firm investing in U.S. lower middle market industrial services and business services companies, today announced the appointment of Welela Dawit as Operating Partner.

Welela joins GenNx360’s operating team with nearly two decades of finance and operating experience from Microsoft and General Electric driving commercial growth, operating margin improvement, and organizational transformation across complex, multi-geography businesses. She will engage directly with portfolio company management teams and the firm’s investment professionals to support value creation initiatives across the portfolio.

Prior to joining GenNx360, Welela served as Chief Financial Officer of Microsoft South Africa, where she focused on commercial strategy, financial governance, and P&L management for one of Microsoft’s highest-revenue subsidiaries across enterprise technology, AI, and cloud. Welela designed data center growth plans and partnered to drive innovation across AI-enabled finance solutions with some of Microsoft’s largest customers. She was awarded Microsoft’s worldwide Finance Excellence Award for two consecutive years.

Previously, Welela spent over 15 years at General Electric in the U.S. and internationally where she held leadership positions of increasing responsibility across finance, operations, and business transformation. She progressed through GE's Financial Management Program and GE’s Corporate Audit Staff before going on to lead commercial finance and FP&A, ultimately serving as Chief Financial Officer of GE Africa. In this capacity she led multiple business unit integrations and was responsible for the carve-out of a major portfolio into a stand-alone operating business.

“Welela brings a differentiated combination of financial leadership, commercial acumen, and operational transformation expertise developed across world-class multinationals,” said Marie Ffolkes, Managing Partner and head of GenNx360’s operating resources. “Her ability to partner with management teams to drive performance and rapidly scale will be highly valuable as we continue to accelerate growth and operational excellence across our portfolio.”

“GenNx360’s hands-on, operationally focused approach to investing and close partnership with management teams strongly resonated with me,” Welela commented. “I look forward to working alongside the team to support our portfolio companies scale and create significant value.”
