CertifID, the trusted platform for real estate fraud prevention, today announced it has acquired Closinglock, the escrow management platform for secure money movement in real estate. The combination brings together complementary capabilities across identity verification, fraud prevention, secure payments and real estate closing workflows to better protect people and money throughout the real estate transaction.

The acquisition comes as title companies face increasingly sophisticated fraud threats, growing pressure to operate more efficiently, and higher expectations from buyers, sellers and real estate agents. FBI IC3 data shows that real estate fraud losses grew more than twice as fast as overall reported cybercrime losses last year. Real estate wire fraud is a top target for Business Email Compromise scams, which topped $3 billion in losses last year.

“Title companies are being asked to protect more, move faster and deliver a better experience at a time when the risks have never been greater,” said Tyler Adams, CEO and Co-Founder of CertifID. “The challenges facing the real estate industry are real, persistent, and bigger than any one company or product can solve alone. By bringing our technology and expertise together, we seek to stay ahead of emerging threats while elevating the closing experience.”

CertifID will create a new standard for the real estate transaction: verified once, trusted throughout. By verifying participants, accounts, and funds early and carrying that trust through every interaction, CertifID aims to connect protection, money movement, workflow and client experience into a transaction that is sophisticated underneath but remarkably simple on the surface. The result is an experience that finally matches the significance of the transaction itself.

“We built Closinglock to protect every person and every dollar in real estate, and this gives us the opportunity to do that at a much greater scale,” said Andy White, CEO and Co-Founder of Closinglock. “Separately, our companies have solved some of the hardest problems in real estate fraud and made groundbreaking advancements in how real estate is paid for, and these capabilities belong together. By coming together we will move faster and build the infrastructure to protect the real estate transaction from start to finish.”

For customers, the companies are committed to adding capability without creating disruption. Customers can continue using the CertifID and Closinglock products and integrations they rely on today. CertifID will continue investing in an open ecosystem across title production systems, title underwriters, and other third-party platforms.

“Both the CertifID and Closinglock teams recognize the tremendous responsibility and trust our customers place in our hands. For that reason, we remain committed to focusing on their needs first and are approaching the integration of these two products carefully,” Adams said. “With continued headwinds in the real estate market, our responsibility is to deliver more protection and value for our customers without asking them to change platforms or restructure workflows.”

The acquisition is CertifID’s second in four months, following its acquisition of CloseSimple in June 2026. The combined organization will have approximately 220 employees and serve more than 3,000 title companies and 35,000 title professionals across the United States.

CertifID and Closinglock both bring significant scale. CertifID protected 1.55 million real estate transactions in 2025 and has recovered $145 million in stolen funds through its Fraud Recovery Services. Closinglock has protected more than $900 billion across more than 2 million transactions since its founding. Together, the companies have moved more than $7 billion in real estate payments and expect to protect 2.5 million real estate transactions this year.

The acquisition brings together two venture-backed Austin technology companies that have raised more than $130 million in total funding. CertifID, backed by Arthur Ventures and Centana Growth Partners, has raised $80 million to-date, while Closinglock has raised $50 million from investors including Sageview Capital, Headline and Live Oak Ventures.

CertifID was founded after co-founders Tom Cronkright and Lawrence Duthler’s Grand Rapids, Michigan title company lost $180,000 to wire fraud in 2015, prompting them to build a digital solution to protect title professionals and their customers. Now a decade later, the combined company is building the trusted infrastructure for life’s most consequential transactions.

Adams will serve as CEO of the combined company. White assumes the role of Chief Strategy Officer. Terms of the transaction will not be disclosed.
