Strategic expansion triples workforce, increases capacity sevenfold, and strengthens supply for fast growing data center and energy markets
Distributor Wire & Cable (DWC), one of the fastest growing wire and cable suppliers in the United States, today celebrated the grand opening of its new 153,000 square foot Columbus warehouse, more than seven times the size of its previous location. The expansion triples the workforce and increases DWC’s ability to serve booming data center, manufacturing, renewable energy, and EV charging markets nationwide.
The new facility, located in Canal Winchester, positions DWC to meet the demands of the Great Lakes region’s surging data center growth while boosting national distribution capacity. With room for nearly 100 percent additional workforce growth, the site reflects DWC’s long-term investment in both operational scale and community impact.
This investment comes amid surging demand from renewable energy, EV infrastructure, and data centers. The clean energy transition is driving the need for UV-resistant solar and durable EV tray cables, and the data center market is projected to more than double by 2033, boosting demand for advanced connectivity such as DWC’s tray rated category ethernet cables.
“Data center and manufacturing clients cannot wait weeks. They need product on the ground, ready to go,” said Travis Williams, CEO of DWC. “This expansion strengthens our national supply network, accelerates delivery, and supports the industries driving the future economy.”
The Columbus hub increases inventory, speeds large-scale order fulfillment, and expands product lines from tray cable to aluminum. DWC continues to offer precision cut-to-length orders, striping and dyeing services, and its signature no cut charges, no reel charges, and no minimums.
“This project was about more than just tenant improvements — it was about precision execution and thoughtful integration within an active warehouse environment,” said Matt Curtin, Director of Business Development of Hemmer Construction Company. “From fire protection upgrades to dock enhancements, HVAC upgrades, and a turnkey office buildout, we delivered a solution tailored to Distributor Wire & Cable’s operational needs. It’s a great example of how our team brings value through proactive management, adaptability, and a deep understanding of the industrial user’s priorities.”
Today’s ribbon cutting ceremony was hosted in partnership with the Canal Winchester Chamber of Commerce and attended by Ohio House of Representatives members Meridith Lawson-Rowe and Jeff LaRe, local officials, community partners, and the DWC Columbus team. The event also included warehouse tours and networking with industry partners.
