The Longest-Running Spanish-language Daily Newspaper in the United States Will Host Its 2025 Mujeres Destacadas Ceremony
El Diario, the longest-running Spanish-language daily newspaper, will recognize the achievements of 24 notable Hispanic women at the 2025 Mujeres Destacadas (Outstanding Women) ceremony on April 25, 2025. This year’s luncheon will take place at the historic Harvard Club in New York City and the honorees will be featured in a special supplement, which will be available in the Sunday edition of El Diario on April 27, 2025.
Mujeres Destacadas was founded nearly three decades ago to celebrate the achievements of Outstanding Latina Women in the tri-state area and highlight the positive contributions they have made in their community. El Diario receives nominations from colleagues, peers and friends to recognize the work of these activists, artists, leaders, entrepreneurs, doctors, teachers, scientists, journalists, and more.
This annual awards ceremony celebrates exceptional Latinas who inspire future generations of women within their communities. Each honoree is recognized for their outstanding achievements and reputation for excellence, navigating their fields with grace and resilience. These powerful narratives reflect El Diario’s enduring mission to amplify Hispanic voices and honor their contributions.
"The El Diario editorial team anticipates this ceremony each year, and this year is no different. We are proud to present a remarkable lineup of outstanding Latinas who are paving the way in their respective industries and roles,” said Carmen Villavicencio, Executive Editor of El Diario. “This awards program holds profound significance, especially at this moment, as women confront formidable challenges in their pursuit of equality and reproductive rights. We will remain a strong and active advocate for women in our community, building on decades as a trusted news source for the community."
