As more employees return to physical work locations, many are reimagining the revitalized downtown Seattle options and turning to flexible and hybrid office spaces
The Rainier Club, Seattle‘s pre-eminent historic private social club, and Kit Merker, local tech investor and entrepreneur announced the grand opening of Merker Hall, a modern collaboration and workspace in the heart of Seattle’s downtown.
Merker made a generous donation to the Rainier Club. This donation enabled the club to make improvements and freed up capital for investments in member amenities, including private phone booths, enhanced Wi-Fi, adjustable standing/sitting desks, coffee service, a gas fireplace, and more.
The newly renovated Merker Hall is located at Eddie’s Place, named for Edward Carlson, one of the planners of the World's Fair that saw the construction of the iconic Space Needle. The renovation also includes repurposing a bookable private conference room, ideal for meetings and small, corporate off-sites.
Lauren Parris Watts, The Rainier Club President, said, “These new amenities add tremendous value to all of our current and future members as the nature of when, where, and how we work continues to evolve. It's a great example of how we've adapted to the changing needs and priorities of our membership since our founding in 1888. We are grateful for Kit Merker's generous investment in the club that made this co-work space and conference room possible.”
“I look forward to having a new workspace at the Rainier Club,” said Merker, who is also on the House Committee for The Rainier Club. “For those of us who use the club, even occasionally, as an office space, we have needed more capacity and flexibility. After talking with a number of other members who also occasionally use the club as a working space, I put together a proposal and presented it in an open forum for members to discuss improvements.”
Merker Hall is approximately 900 square feet and has workspace for up to 20 people, with room to add additional desks and private phone booths.
