Experts from The Nature Conservancy explain critical work funded by International Paper

SOURCE: International Paper Company

DESCRIPTION:

International Paper has worked with The Nature Conservancy (TNC) to help protect our planet for more than 40 years. Last summer, we announced the continuation of a pioneering project to reduce the impact of logging on the climate – one that reinforces our commitment to responsible forestry beyond our supply chain.

The project is called Reduced Impact Logging for Climate Mitigation (RIL-C), and the purpose is to develop a menu of responsible forest management practices that can help land managers improve carbon capture in working forests.

In a recent episode of the BBC podcast “39 Ways to Save the Planet,” TNC’s Director of Climate Science and forest ecologist, Peter Ellis, explains how these practices work. Stream or download “Logging for Good” to meet the team who've worked out how to fell trees in a way that's good for the planet.

Collaborations with organizations like TNC are helping IP make progress on our Vision 2030 goal for Healthy and Abundant Forests, in which we committed to conserve and restore one million acres (400,000 hectares) of ecologically significant forestland. Learn more about our four Vision 2030 goals.
