AUO May 2004 Consolidated Revenues Totaled NT$16.7 Billion

Hsinchu, Taiwan, June 7, 2004 –

AU Optronics Corp. (“AUO” or the “Company”) (TAIEX: 2409; NYSE: AUO) today announced unaudited consolidated net sales of NT$16,656 million and unaudited unconsolidated net sales of NT$16,631 million for the month of May 2004.

Unit shipment for large-size TFT-LCD panels, inclusive of panels for desktop monitor, notebook, LCD TV, and other applications, reached 1.62 million, up 3.7% sequentially, setting the 15th straight month of record large panel shipment. Unit shipment for small- and medium-size panels in May 2004 continued to improve, up 10.3% from April 2004 to 2.4 million units.

Consolidated revenues rose 4.1% M-o-M and 106.7% Y-o-Y, while unconsolidated net sales increased 4.9% and 124.8%, M-o-M and Y-o-Y, respectively.
