Item 8.01. Other Events.

On September 21, 2010, the Executive Committee of the Board of Directors of The Goldfield Corporation (the “Company”) approved an extension of Goldfield’s stock repurchase plan, pursuant to which the plan has been extended until September 30, 2011. As of September 21, 2010, the Company had repurchased 2,345,060 shares pursuant to the plan, at an average cost of $0.55 per share, and is authorized to purchase an additional 1,154,940 shares pursuant to the plan. As of September 21, 2010, Goldfield had 25,451,354 shares outstanding.
