Item 8.01 Other Events

On August 28, 2008, The J. M. Smucker Company (the “Company”) issued a press release announcing the record date and meeting date of its special meeting of shareholders to approve of the issuance of Smucker common shares in the previously announced proposed merger of The Folgers Coffee Company with a wholly owned subsidiary of The J. M. Smucker Company and the adoption of amended articles of incorporation of Smucker in connection with the merger. Shareholders of record at the close of business on Monday, September 8, 2008, will be entitled to attend and vote at the special meeting being held on Thursday, October 16, 2008. A copy of the press release is attached to this Current Report on Form 8-K as Exhibit 99.1 and is incorporated herein by reference.
