Peace Arch® Entertainment Announces Renewal of Hit Series “The Tudors”


AWARD-WINNING TELEVISION SERIES STARRING

JONATHAN RHYS MEYERS RENEWED BY SHOWTIME FOR THIRD SEASON


TORONTO – April 24, 2008 – Peace Arch® Entertainment Group Inc. (AMEX:PAE - News) (TSX:PAE.TO - News), an integrated global entertainment company announced today that the hit television series “The Tudors” has been renewed for a third season by Showtime Networks.  Production on the third season’s new episodes is scheduled to begin in June in Ireland, and subsequently air on Showtime Networks in 2009.  “The Tudors” is co-produced by Peace Arch Entertainment and TM Productions in association with The Canadian Broadcasting Corporation and Showtime Networks, Inc.

 

The first season of the critically acclaimed series earned two Creative Emmy® Awards (Outstanding Costumes for a Series and Outstanding Original Movie Title Theme Music), two additional Emmy Award nominations (Outstanding Casting for a Drama Series and Outstanding Art Direction for a Single Camera Series) from The Academy of Television Arts & Sciences in September, 2007, and the series earned two Golden Globe® Award nominations (Best Dramatic Television Series and Best Actor in a Dramatic Series for Jonathan Rhys Meyers) from the Hollywood Foreign Press Association in December, 2007.  The second season of the TV series is currently airing in the U.S. on Showtime.

Showtime Networks holds U.S. distribution rights to “The Tudors,” the first season of which premiered in the U.S. in April of 2007, with season two premiering on Showtime in March of 2008.  Peace Arch owns all distribution rights outside of the United States.  The Canadian Broadcasting Corporation broadcasts the series in Canada, where Peace Arch Home Entertainment® distributes on DVD.  Sony Pictures Entertainment licensed from Peace Arch Entertainment exclusive distribution rights to season one of “The Tudors” outside North America for DVD, television, mobile and new media, and then acquired season two of the series in 2007.
