The Largest Antiquarian Book Fair in the Rocky Mountain region is in Denver, Colorado this summer.
PRLog - Jul. 3, 2014 - DENVER -- For booklovers across the region, it’s an event not to be missed. Thousands of books and other items offered typically include once-in-a-lifetime finds. At the Denver Mart, August 1st – 2nd, the 30th Annual Rocky Mountain Book & Paper Fair truly offers something for everyone, from museum-quality volumes to books suited for casual gift-giving.

The largest event of its kind in the rocky mountain region, the Rocky Mountain Book & Paper Fair also offers a wealth of vintage and rare paper goods, including postcards, maps, art prints, old travel brochures, posters, ads and ephemera from decades – and centuries – past.

This year’s theme, “Collecting: Past, Present and Future,” offers more reasons to attend the fair.  Special presentations on collecting and displays from the Letterpress Depot, the Bookworkers’ Guild, the Calligraphers Guild, the Telephony and Telegraph Archive and various other local organizations will take place over the weekend.  Talks and presentations include:

Challenges Faced Building Collections to Serve Future Generations of Coloradans.  (Friday 6:00pm).  Keith Schrum, our Special Guest and curator for History Colorado Center will present his insights on collecting issues faced by the History Colorado Center.

The Used and Antiquarian Book World. Past, Present and Future: An Australian Dealer's Point of View.  (Saturday 1pm). Sally Burdon, owner and manager of The Old Bookroom, an antiquarian and secondhand book business in Canberra, Australia will speak on her experience with books and collecting from the perspective of time and changes she's observed.

Preservation Station(Various times).  Karen Jones and members of the Bookworkers Guild will demonstrate basic book care and handling and provide an opportunity to ask questions about collection care.

Hosted annually by the Rocky Mountain Antiquarian Booksellers Association (RMABA), an organization of used and rare book dealers in the Rocky Mountain West, the fair has built a reputation as one of the nation’s leading antiquarian book fairs.  Says chairperson Lois Harvey, “We work hard to make this a very enjoyable experience for both our exhibitors and attendees.  The exhibitors often come so far and expend so much time and money to bring their best stuff to Denver, that we want to go the extra mile to make them feel welcome.  And because we continue to attract the nation’s best booksellers, the fair continues to be a cultural boon to Colorado.
