-- From the origins of the universe, fundamental particles and atoms to the Earth’s environment and the evolution of life, scientific research encompasses different scales and disciplines. Dr. Wan-Chung Hu (Wan-Jiung Hu), who has devoted many years to scientific research, has recently released Theories of Everything (Seventh-Anniversary PLUS Definitive Edition). The book brings together his years of research in physics, chemistry, Earth sciences and life sciences, sharing the results of his interdisciplinary research with Chinese-language readers.

Author Wan-Chung Hu graduated from National Taiwan University’s Department of Medicine and went to the United States on a Taiwan government scholarship, earning his Ph.D. from Johns Hopkins University. He has also been a member of the German Physical Society. Dr. Hu said that the book has gone through multiple editions, with the Seventh-Anniversary PLUS Definitive Edition further integrating insights from his years of research and complementing his companion work, Grand Unified Field Theory. Through its publication in Chinese, he hopes to inspire readers to think more deeply about science.

From Research in English to Publication in Chinese: Sharing an Interdisciplinary Scientific Perspective

Theories of Everything (Seventh-Anniversary PLUS Definitive Edition) covers four major fields—physics, chemistry, Earth sciences and biology. Its topics include unified field theory, atomic models, chemical bonding, thermodynamics, geomagnetism, earthquakes, biological evolution and the architecture of the immune system.

In physics, Dr. Wan-Chung Hu proposes final SO(10) and SU(5) theories. Within a four-dimensional spacetime framework, he explores the unification among the fundamental forces, including gravity, electromagnetism, the strong force and the weak force. The final beautiful SO(10) model is a 9x5 matrix presented in the front cover of this book. He seeks to unify particles, fields, waves, time and space, as well as general relativity, special relativity and the Standard Model. According to the author, this SO(10) model fully satisfies the rigorous requirements of mathematical group theory. The book also proposes incorporating the gravitational field, rotational field, electric field, magnetic field and thermal field into a single equation.

Starting from atomic theory and electron motion, the author also revisits atomic structure, electron energy levels and matter waves through concepts including standing waves, electron motion and Landau quantization. He argues that various experimental cases can be explained without quantum mechanics, including the so-called “magic numbers” of atoms and atomic nuclei. Since electrons form standing waves and standing waves do not radiate energy, electrons can maintain stable motion in two-dimensional orbital paths, according to the author.

The chemistry section focuses on atomic structure, chemical bonding, elemental properties, thermodynamics and enzymes. Building on the new atomic model, it explores electron configurations, molecular structures and mechanisms of chemical reactions, while also discussing concepts such as entropy and negentropy, free energy and catalysis.

The Earth sciences section covers natural phenomena including geomagnetism, earthquakes, tornadoes and lightning. The author proposes a hypothesis that earthquakes are caused by the rapid release of electromagnetic waves within the Earth. He argues that this hypothesis can explain why earthquakes occur suddenly, why large intraplate earthquakes can occur, as well as phenomena such as earthquake lights and atmospheric and ionospheric anomalies accompanying major earthquakes.

The life sciences section addresses protein structures, biological evolution, epigenetics, neuroanatomy with concious and subconcious, the complete framework of immune system and sociobiology with the origin of ethics, exploring the formation and functioning of biological systems.

Wan-Chung Hu’s Research Available on INSPIRE-HEP; Research Also Published on Preprints.org

The author’s English name is Wan-Chung Hu. Readers can search for his publications through INSPIRE-HEP, an international database for high-energy physics. Related research on unified field theory has also been published on academic preprint platforms including Preprints.org.

Seventh-Anniversary PLUS Definitive Edition Continues to Expand the Grand Unified Field Theory Research

The author further argues that his theory is falsifiable. He proposes that the nonexistence of gravitons, superpartners and virtual photons could serve as criteria for future experimental results to falsify or validate his theory. He also compares four-dimensional spacetime with eleven-dimensional superstring theory and argues that eleven-dimensional superstring theory is incompatible with the four-dimensional spacetime framework of relativity.

Theories of Everything was selected as a designated book for the Science Popularization Reading Competition organized by Taiwan’s Ministry of Science and Technology and National Taiwan Normal University in 2019. In 2021, Theories of Everything and its companion work, Grand Unified Field Theory, were featured on the National Education Radio program Today, We Don’t Read Books, where the author was also interviewed. The book has received recommendations from numerous Taiwanese scholars and professors and has also been recommended for the Golden Tripod Awards and the Sun Yat-sen Academic Award.

Promoting International Scientific Exchange Through Publication

The Chinese-language edition of Theories of Everything (Seventh-Anniversary PLUS Definitive Edition) is intended to serve as a reference for Chinese-language readers seeking to understand interdisciplinary scientific issues and as a platform for promoting communication and exchange in the field of science.
