NEW PORT RICHEY, FL - A new locally owned New Port Richey Lawn Service has officially launched, aiming to fill what its founders describe as a growing gap between homeowners and the app-based national services that dominate much of Pasco County's residential lawn care market.

American Edge Lawn Care, headquartered at 5550 Manatee Point Dr in New Port Richey, is owned and operated by father-son team Rockey Pulley and Aidan Pulley. The business is insured, bonded, and services all of Pasco County - including Port Richey, Hudson, Trinity, Spring Hill, Bayonet Point, Holiday, and the Seven Springs, Jasmine Estates, River Hills, and Cotee River neighborhoods.

The launch comes at a notable moment for the industry. The United States lawn care market is valued at $62.91 billion in 2026 and is projected to reach $79.68 billion by 2031, growing at a compound annual rate of 4.85%, according to Mordor Intelligence. The broader landscaping sector has grown an average of 6.5% annually between 2020 and 2025, per the National Association of Landscape Professionals. Florida's sunbelt population growth and year-round growing season have made counties like Pasco a focal point for both national franchises and app-based booking platforms.

A Ten-Year Backstory That Started with a Kid and a Mower

American Edge did not begin as a business plan. It began roughly a decade ago when Aidan Pulley's older brother, Noah, started cutting neighborhood lawns as a side hustle, with grandparents Jim and Rosanne helping him land his first customers. Behind the operation stood Rockey Pulley - a Pasco County resident with more than 30 years of construction and lawn care experience - providing equipment and standards from the start.

When Noah left for Southeastern University in Lakeland, where he is currently enrolled in nursing school and plays safety for the SEU Fire football team, his younger brother Aidan took over the mower and the routes. Rockey formalized the operation into American Edge Lawn Care, positioning it as both a legitimate business and a vehicle to teach his son entrepreneurship.

"When my son said he wanted to build something real, we built American Edge," Rockey Pulley said. "Sharp lines, on-time service, and the kind of pride only a father-son crew brings to New Port Richey."

Aidan Pulley, still in high school, now runs daily routes and mower operations, while Rockey manages scheduling, insurance, customer service, and back-office functions. Rockey also owns Nearnet Digital Solutions LLC, a marketing firm, which the family says gives American Edge digital and operational infrastructure that is uncommon among independent lawn care operators in Pasco County.

Positioning Against a Consolidating Market

The Pasco County lawn care market includes established local providers such as Pasco Lawn Care Services and Mike's Lawns, alongside national app-based platforms including LawnStarter and LawnGuru, which have expanded aggressively into Florida in recent years. Homeowners in local community groups have publicly voiced frustration with service inconsistency from app-based providers, according to discussions on Nextdoor and Facebook community groups covering the New Port Richey area.

American Edge is positioning itself as a direct alternative. The company offers no contracts, flat monthly pricing beginning at $89 per month for residential lawns under 5,000 square feet, and direct communication with the owners rather than routing through call centers or booking apps. An introductory first cut is priced at $19 for new residential customers.

Services and Local Expertise

American Edge Lawn Care provides New Port Richey Lawn Mowing along with weekly and bi-weekly residential lawn maintenance, edging, line trimming, debris blow-off, hedge and shrub trimming, and post-storm cleanup - a service the company describes as particularly relevant during Florida's June-through-November hurricane season.

The company also emphasizes agronomic knowledge specific to Pasco County lawns, the majority of which are planted with Floratam St. Augustine grass. American Edge recommends mowing heights of 3.5 to 4 inches during summer months to shade out weeds and protect root systems, and weekly cutting cycles during Pasco County's rainy season from June through September.

Chinch bug infestation - identified by the University of Florida IFAS Extension as one of the most destructive pests to St. Augustine lawns in the region - is a specific focus of the company's diagnostic approach on new customer visits.

Pasco County has been one of Florida's fastest-growing counties by population over the past decade, driven in part by suburban migration from the Tampa Bay metropolitan area and out-of-state relocation.
