Major safe harbor inventory position strengthens execution confidence and accelerates projects from late-stage development to construction and operation before the ITC cliff
Standard Solar procured 512 megawatts (MW) of safe-harbored solar module inventory ready for deployment for development projects, as a strategic move to safe harbor development projects in need.
Standard Solar’s 512 MW safe harbor procurement position reflects a calculated procurement decision enabled by the company’s financial strength, reinforcing its leadership as a long-term owner-operator built to execute through the current ITC window. By bringing safe harbor status to projects, and taking control of a major schedule variable, the company can help developers move from late-stage development to construction with greater speed and certainty, and support projects already in development.
“Execution is the differentiator right now,” said Mike Streams, Chief Development Officer, Standard Solar. “With 512 MW of safe-harbored module inventory ready to deploy, our appetite is high to underwrite, close and mobilize projects efficiently — bringing more capacity into service across U.S. markets. That combination gives us a real deployment advantage, helping developers protect schedules, reduce procurement risks and convert development progress into projects that actually get built. And because this inventory won’t last indefinitely, we’re prioritizing speed with qualified partners that are ready to move.”
Getting projects from groundbreaking to commissioning is more challenging than ever under the current ITC climate. With the tightening of Foreign Entities of Concern (FEOC) restrictions, having a partner with safe-harbored FEOC-free modules is essential. Standard Solar’s inventory-ready position removes uncertainty when it matters most — during project structuring, financing and scheduling. Standard Solar has already deployed a portion of its safe-harbored modules, including for a 6.3-megawatt (MW) community solar project in Illinois.
“Developers are solving hard problems every day: interconnection, offtake, permitting and land control,” added Streams. “We built this inventory position to help solve the next problem: getting projects to construction without unnecessary procurement friction and ensuring they are delivered by a long-term owner that will operate them for performance over the life of the asset.”
As an established long-term asset owner and operator with more than two decades of experience, Standard Solar has partnered with more than 70 developers nationwide to bring projects online and deliver reliable, locally generated power. The company is actively evaluating opportunities where its safe-harbored inventory can support accelerated deployment and portfolio certainty for community solar, C&I and other distributed generation projects, including solar + storage and VPP-enabled projects, in markets where speed-to-operation matters.
