Avangrid Fully Implements Company-Wide Return to Office Policy

Avangrid, a leading sustainability company operating in 24 states, is an industry leader with its return-to-work policy

Together, the company’s 8,000 employees are better able to collaborate, innovate and maximize the potential of Avangrid’s talented teams

Avangrid, a leading sustainable energy company and member of the Iberdrola Group, announced today that the company has fully implemented its return-to-office policy, concluding remote work arrangements developed during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The return-to-office policy was instituted in early 2024 as a way to maximize efficiency, agility, and increased engagement of its workforce of more than 8,000 employees. With a presence in 24 states, Avangrid is at the forefront of America’s clean energy transition, and regular, face-to-face collaboration among this impressive workforce will help ensure the company’s continued success.

“During the pandemic, Avangrid developed industry-leading models for working safely while maintaining productivity and company success,” said Avangrid CEO, Pedro Azagra. “However, with the incredible number of investments we are making in the 24 states in which we operate, bringing our world-class talent back together in-person will allow us to maximize the potential of our teams to benefit the communities we serve.”

Since implementing this policy in early 2024, Avangrid has seen a 70% increase in occupancy of its nine main offices, averaging nearly 2,000 employees at these locations every day.

“We acknowledged that this would be an adjustment for our employees and have worked strategically to help ease the transition by providing advanced notice of the return, establishing a feedback loop, and implementing additional resources to help support the transition,” said Kay Johnson, Vice President People Operations & Employee Experience for Avangrid. “We are also using this opportunity to accelerate the investments we are making in our facilities across the country.”

Coinciding with the return to office policy, Avangrid also expanded its commuter benefits and renewed its commitment to industry leading incentives for sustainable forms of transportation.
