Latest Awards Bring the Total Scholarships Bestowed to Military Residents By The Michaels Educational Foundation to More than $7 Million

CAMDEN, NJ / ACCESS Newswire / July 10, 2026 / The Michaels Organization Educational Foundation, a non-profit affiliate of The Michaels Organization, has awarded $1,399,000 in scholarships for the 2026/2027 academic year to 131 residents living in Michaels' military housing communities across the country.

The scholarships awarded to Michaels' military residents are part of the record-breaking $2.4 million Michaels announced in June as being awarded to residents of military and affordable communities owned or managed by The Michaels Organization.

"We could not be more proud to support military families through our Educational Foundation," said Erik Roberson, Executive Vice President of Investment Management who oversees Michaels' military housing portfolio. "It's an honor to play a part in helping these exceptional students pursue higher education, and we look forward to seeing all that they accomplish in the years ahead."

The Michaels Organization has been a Department of Defense private-sector partner since 2004. This year's military living scholars represent 11 military installations across Arizona, California, Florida, Georgia, Kansas, Maryland, and Virginia, where Michaels currently owns and manages more than 18,000 privatized military homes.

Among this year's scholars is first-time recipient Sage from Mountain Vista Communities in Arizona. With her award, Sage will begin her studies in theater at Northern Arizona University. With a passion for all aspects of theater and stage production, from makeup and costumes to lighting and set design, Sage plans to use her degree to turn her passions into a career.

The Michaels Organization Educational Foundation provides grants to residents to use toward their pursuit of higher education at any accredited college, university, or vocational training program in the nation. Scholarships are awarded annually and students may reapply each year of their undergraduate education for continuing grants. The Foundation began awarding military residents in 2006 and has since awarded over $7 million in scholarships to residents of Michaels' military communities. Overall, the Foundation has awarded $21 million to residents across Michaels' portfolio.

All Foundation funds are raised through voluntary contributions by corporations, companies, families, private trusts, and individuals throughout The Michaels Organization's business network. Ever since the program was established in 1991, Michaels' founder Michael J. Levitt and his wife Pat Levitt have matched all donations $2 for every $1. Pat Levitt, who is chair of the Educational Foundation, will continue that match, following Michael's death at the age of 94, on June 12, 2026.

Ceremonies honoring scholars at Michaels' military communities are planned throughout the summer.
