New Book Release: Prince of Poachers by Charles Beaty - When Tough Becomes the Only Faith
Prince of Poachers - Part 1: Ex-outlaw deer hunter Charles Beaty tells all in his epic true story hunting adventure by Charles Beaty

Master of silence and terrain, a phantom in disguise, and his legend was whispered across the land. In the raw heart of Texas, where the mesquite grows thick and the deer move like smoke, there lived a man you’d never hear coming. A ghost to some, a myth to others, he knew the land better than most men know themselves. He didn’t chase glory, and he sure didn’t seek permission. The law couldn’t catch him, fear couldn’t break him, and the world’s version of toughness never defined him. His story isn’t written in textbooks, but in dust, sweat, and tales that linger like an old scar; time doesn’t let it fade.

One man spent over a decade living off the land, avoiding game wardens and helicopters, hiding in trees, skulking through shadows, and trusting his instincts. He used to be a forest spook. He pursued time, freedom, and isolation in addition to hunting deer.

This is not your typical fantasy about an outlaw. It's a personal look at what happens when toughness becomes your only faith and the wild becomes your rhythm, tearing apart the concept of masculinity. When you're a male, you have to swallow your suffering until you lose the ability to feel. It is a story about a man who was by himself long enough to confront his own truth, which is more dangerous than getting exposed. This story forces us to face the pressing question of what strength really is, if it means losing your soul as the world moves forward, and ideas of what it means to be a man.

Read “Prince of Poachers” by Charles Beaty if you want the complete, wild tale, including the blood, the brush, and the breakdown. You won't see toughness the same way again after you start, though.

About the Author

Charles Robert Beaty was born on August 13, 1956, in the city of Tyler, Texas. Learning about hunting for the first time around the age of twelve, Charlie became fascinated with the idea of killing big whitetail deer.

As an adult, his fascination turned into an obsession. Charlie worked as a taxidermist while secretly living the life of an outlaw-hunter, poaching hundreds of deer and other animals under the noses of Texas Parks and Wildlife game wardens.

After 22 years of poaching, Charlie finally reformed, turning himself in to the state game wardens and retiring his outlaw ways. Charlie chose to write Prince of Poachers to share his story along with why he no longer poaches and to warn others away from outlaw-hunting.
