CLARIFICATION ANNOUNCEMENT
This announcement is made by China Unicom (Hong Kong) Limited (the Company) pursuant to
Rule 13.09 of the Rules Governing the Listing of Securities on the Stock Exchange of Hong Kong Limited
(the Listing Rules).
The board of directors (the Board) of the Company notes the recent coverage by the press in
connection with the Company being the subject of an investigation by the National Development and
Reform Commission of the Peoples Republic of China (the NDRC) over alleged monopolistic conducts
in the broadband internet market of China.
The Company hereby clarifies that China United Network Communications Corporation Limited (CUCL),
a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Company, operates its internet access business pursuant to the
license for operating basic telecommunications business in the Peoples Republic of China, which
was granted by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of the Peoples Republic of
China (the MIIT), and the relevant authorizations. In response to a request from the NDRC, CUCL
is in the process of providing the NDRC with the pricing, volume, turnover and other relevant
information of its internet access bandwidth leasing business with the internet service providers
for the year 2010.
